WORKS FROM ZEAS                                    Mar 07
The exhibition featured some new paintings exploring Russell’s interest in organic systems and work derived from his experiences of the landscape of Devon and West Brittany, where he has a studio. Also included in the show where some sets built for his current Dance/Film project ‘Utah Sunshine’ (see picture above) which examines aspects of the aftermath of nuclear testing in Utah in the fifties.

Russell has lived and worked in Devon as a painter and teacher for 25 years completing an MA in Fine art at the University of Plymouth in 2003. Recently a series of prints of his more landscape based work have been taken up by a leading art print distributor for international art catalogues. Russell’s previous films include “ Enclave” 2004 which has been shown at film festivals around the world and was part of SW Dances touring ‘showreel’ last year, and ‘Mother 3’ a collaborative project with members of the University of Plymouth’s Theatre and Performance team. A new website has been launched this month promoting Russell’s film based activities through his production company ‘ Enclave Productions’ at www.enclave.org.uk  where examples of his films can be viewed and access to examples of his paintings can be seen.
